Top 10 Ancient Languages in The World

Languages one of the most important aspects for human which is playing a crucial role for every aspects of life. It is fat more than not just a tour for communication it shape that how we think interact and how others understanding the whole over the world around us.

The exact origin of spoken language are definitely not known but as per predates and recorded history, leaf are some of the evidence to find. There are some clues to find when it was origin that by linguistic and archaeological research provides when spoken language was emerged between 100,000 to 200,000 years ago. 

The earliest form of languages would have been quite probably simple sound jesters or early organisation which is become more complex evolving into structured language. here we can know the languages which are used a long years ago. In this article we explore the top 10 oldest languages in the world which layer the foundation for many modern languages and continue to influence some speech, culture and scholarship.


1. Sumerians (3100 BCE):

Sumerians is considered as a 'language isolate' it means it does not belong to anyone language or no direct linguistic relatives but it is one of the earliest non written language in human history. 
Summary and important reason to develop the cuneiform writing system, it is one of the oldest form of writing in human history. It represent objects to pictures let the symbols sounds syllabus and words it involved pressing with shape symbols into clay tablet using a reach stylus. 
Sumerian does not have any articles on gender that means "the" or "a" like English words and don't have a grammatical gender like "masculine or feminine".
Although Sumerians ceased to be spoken language of Akkadian which is a dominant language in Mesopotamia. This language was influenced by Sumerians, particularly its vocabulary and also the cuneiform writing system.

2. Egyptian (3000 BCE):

Egyptian language is also one of the another ancient language which has been recorded for thousands of year primarily through hieroglyphs on tombs monuments and papyrus. This language was mostly spoken by middle Egyptian which is becoming the classical form of religious and slowly it was evolved in to copy of which is still some of the Egyptian Christians are speaking today also through out the history and giving us the one of the ancient script in the world.

Old Egyptian was the language of the old kingdom and the early middle kingdom The returns script was happened during this year it is largely hieroglyphic it is a system of picture symbols which represented both sounds and concepts. Middle Egyptian is also known as the classical Egyptian it was primarily used during the middle kingdom and new kingdom periods. 
Egyptian language was spoken until medieval period it emerge to influence the language of Greek and also the final stage of Egyptian language is represented as coptic. Optic as written using the cocktail alphabet which is largely based on the Greek alphabets but the sound which are represents or not found in Greek. Today it is no longer as spoken language but remains the retrieval language of the coptic orthodox church. 

3. Akkadians (2500 BCE) :

It is one of the earliest recorder language in history. It was evolved from Sumerians and become the very dominant language of Akkadian Empire around 2334 BCE. The written form was developed by using Cuneiform which has at 2 main dialects: "Babylonian" and "Assyrian". This language was spread across near the east and many countries at the first century of BCE. 

Akkadian is a semitic language which is spoken in ancient Mesopotamia.

4. Tamil (500 BCE) :

Tamil is the one of the most oldest surviving classical language in the world with rich literacy tradition back over 2000 years. Tamil languages originating in Southern India and Sri Lanka Tamil is still spoken by millions of people today and continuous to trap Asia major language in India Sri Lanka and all around the world. 

Many languages in India was influenced related to Tamil such as Telugu Malayalam, tulu, Kannada, kodava and  not only in India, also in Sri Lanka as  sinhala, Malaysian and Singaporean Tamil dialects and so on. There are some Indian languages in contact with Tamil such as Hindi which is observed some vocabulary from Tamil.  Bengali, Assamese and Marathi also have certain vocabulary and cultural borrowings from Tamil. 

Arabic has had some influence from Tamil due to trade interaction between Tamil speaking chola dynasty and Arab merchant this results as several Tamil loan words found in the way into Arabic especially in  trade and navigation.

5. Sanskrit (1500 BCE) :

Sanskrit is one of the ancient Indo-Aryan language which has been 3,000 years for religious text and literature. It is the oldest scriptures of Hinduism (Vedas) and also the language of classical Indian literature including the famous " Mahabharata" and "Ramayana" epics. Nowadays spoken Sanskrit has largely faded but it remains an important language for Hindu rituals, Yoga and philosophical texts. Some of the  Modern Indian languages are derived from Sanskrit such as Hindi, Bengali and Punjabi.

6. Greek (1400 BCE):

Greek language is spans over 3400 years of history and most significant contribution to philosophy, mathematics, literature and science. The Mycenaean Greek language developed Greek alphabets and it became like Plato, Aristotle and Sophocles. nowadays Modern Greek is spoken by millions of people.

7. Hebrew (1000 BCE):

  Hebrew is one of the ancient semitic language in history. The ancient kingdom of Israel and Judah were traced back around 1000 BCE and also its the official language of Israel . The language of "Hebrew Bible" is studied extensively for its cultural and religious significance. The modern Hebrew is an important language for Jews worldwide.

8. Chinese (1200 BCE):

Chinese language is an extensive history with written records of more than 3000 years. Oracle bone script was the earliest form of Chinese grip during shank dynasty. Modern Mandarin Chinese is one of the most spoken language in the world which is descendant of these ancient languages. The development was Chinese language was written from some East Asian languages and some cornerstone of Chinese culture.

9. Aramaic (900 BCE):

Aramaic is also or no of the ancient an official language of Achaemenid Empire. In some history it's mention as the best known language spoken by the Jesus twist and the opposite and in some portions of the bibles particular in the old testament was written in Aramaic. Nowadays mostly this language is say that from everyday usage but it is still spoken by some community in the Middle East and many Alex have influenced development of later language in the region. 

10. Latin (700 BCE):

So Latin is no longer spoken asse native language but it was the dominant language of the Roman empire and influence to develop some of the western languages. Sum of the languages which was best from latin vase Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese and Romania after the fall of the Roman empire. Latin is the important special in scientific and medical terminology it is continuously used in Catholic liturgy.


The oldest language in the world fascinating the origin of human communication and culture some of these languages like Tamil Sanskrit Hebrews or still alive today and also shaping modern speech literature and religion and some others like Sumerians and Akkadians are no longer spoken but continue to be started by linguists, archaeologist and historian this ancient languages from the linguistic roots for many modern languages to continue throughout the world.
